Jacqui Hedley
IDC Staff Instructor

Hi I’m Jacqui. I am originally from the UK. Although I have been lucky enough to grow up in Middle east and Africa too.

When I was 3 we moved to Abu Dhabi, UAE. This is where my family found I preferred to be in the water than on land. From the age of 3 I was nick named the little fish.

It would be 18 years later when I moved back to the UAE, but this time Dubai, that I would take the plunge and do my Open Water Course. Within 1 yr of starting to dive I was a PADI Open Water Instructor as I was lucky enough with the support of my dad to follow my dreams and dive all the time.

After a few years working in Dubai I went to Cyprus for a season before heading back to UK and colder waters. I spent some time diving in Egypt and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

In 2011 I moved to Malta with my daughter where I ran my own dive centre before making the best decision and going into partnership with my partner Simon.

My daughter Rosie is a fantastic diver who I love diving with. I love wreck dives and Underwater Photography.

Looking forward to meeting you soon.

Simon Hewart
Master Scuba Diver Trainer

My name is Simon, I am half Maltese and half British. My dad was in the British Army and we got to travel a bit but I have always been drawn to the Maltese Islands. I also served in the British Army for 24 yrs before moving to Malta in 2013.

Being in the army I was lucky enough to get to visit Belize which is where I learnt to dive. I did my Open Water and Advanced in 2005.

In 2011 I went to Dahab, Egypt to do my Divemaster and Instructor courses back to back, successfully completing my IE.

I started working as a Dive Instructor in 2013 in Malta and this is what I have done ever since. In 2017 I went into partnership with my better half and Scuba Life Malta was born.

I have a motorbike that I love but don’t get to spend enough time on and also being a chef, I love to cook. I have a grown up son and am also a Grandad.

My favourite dive site in Malta is The Arch at Cirkewwa because it has amazing underwater landscapes and great Marine life, it is also shallow enough that all levels can dive it. My favourite kind of dive is .... any dive ..... as long as I am underwater then I am happy.

Looking forward to diving with you soon.
